November in Review

Welcome to "In Review," a series where we look at the previous month's best and favorite images taken by the photography team at West Virginia University.

The late fall season in Morgantown can be easily highlighted by one of those words — "season." Really, it's "seasons," and there are plenty of them.

This particular November was a season that celebrated new faces as Mark Kellogg and Josh Eilert led the women's and men's basketball teams, respectively, onto the court for the first time.

Along with new faces on the hardwood, it was a chance to honor West Virginia University's football history as Chuck Howley and Don Nehlen were each immortalized while that season wound down.

Seniors got their day at Milan Puskar Stadium, Mountaineer mascot Mikel Hager represented the football team for one last home game, the men's soccer team worked its way to a first College Cup appearance and fans took in every available "season."

Let's take a look through each those seasons and the rest of what November had to offer.

Once a Mountaineer

West Virginia and Dallas Cowboys great Chuck Howley, and legendary Mountaineers coach Don Nehlen had their names immortalized on the Diversified Energy Terrace at Milan Puskar Stadium.

They weren't the only ones to be recognized on Mountaineer Field, though, as it is always home to the largest of "senior night" celebrations while honoring football players, band members, dancers, cheerleaders and a tip of the cap to the Mountaineer mascot as it's their final home football game in the buckskins.

In the Stands

Gold and blue are worn both in the stands and on the field, and there's not much better of a feeling behind the lens than watching our athletes and our fans feed off of each others' energy.

In Action

Around Campus

Of course, while athletics dominated our time behind the lens in November, it wasn't the only part of the job. Events around campus, student life, and fun around Morgantown — such as a Christmas tree stopping in town while being sent to the United States Capitol — those are our opportunities to document the day-to-day life at West Virginia University.

These monthly photo stories will run each month with a look at the previous 28 to 31 days' work. They will evolve, but the goal will always be to connect alumni, students and fans of West Virginia with what is happening on, and around, campus through our photography staff's lenses.
